Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 University of Missouri Medical School (Session 8 of 16)

Description:

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase aging adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over the 8 weeks, participants learn exercises to improve their strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy–Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Tractor Supply Co Paper Clover Campaign (Session 2 of 2)

Cooking Matters for Adults: Malden (Session 4 of 6)

Description:

Cooking Matters for Adults teaches low-income adults how to prepare and shop sensibly for healthy meals on a limited budget.  The Cooking Matters courses help families with limited resources make healthy meals at home, using a wide variety of foods that are commonly available in their grocery stores, in WIC packages and from emergency food providers such as food pantries.  The participants receive groceries at the end of each class to practice making the recipes they have learned that day.

 

Participants will practice identifying healthier choices when eating away from home; prepare healthier versions of convenience foods; discuss healthy and unhealthy fats; and discuss making healthier choices in the protein and dairy groups.

2017 Spring Blackberry Production Workshop

Blackberry production offers great potential for Missouri farmers. The Growing Blackberry Production and Sales in Missouri project includes blackberry production workshops in southwest Missouri and across the state, a demonstration blackberry planting at the MU Southwest Research Center in Mount Vernon that includes the rotating cross arm trellis and recently developed thornless blackberry cultivars, and blackberry promotional activities centered on the Webb City Farmers Market. Join the project team for upcoming workshops! The blackberry workshops focus on blackberry production through the growing season, with presentations and hands-on experience with new thornless cultivars and the innovative rotating cross arm trellis.
