International Market Place - Chef Cook-Off Events (SSHW) (Session 1 of 5)

Description:

The chef cook-off events will be a series of four events where one chef will show-off their cultural cuisine from around the world, and participants/select judges will vote on their presentation. The two chefs with the most votes will enter the Chef Cook-Off held during the International Marketplace Taste and Tour Event held September 9th, 2017 at 5:30 PM- 9:30 PM. Chef/Restaurants presenting: • Anthony’s (Italian)—May 20 • Blue Nile (Ethiopia)—June 17 • El Paso Del Norte (Hispanic)—July 15 • I-Pho Tower (Vietnamese)—August 19

Session topic:

NorthEast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and the University of Missouri extension will showcase local chefs at the International Marketplace event. At this Session of Cook-off Chef, a local chef will show-off a cultural cuisine. Cost: $10.00

Registration:

Beginning BeeKeeping Workshop

When:  Saturday, May 20, 2017, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We will be hosting the classes at the Polk County Library
1690 West Broadway, Bolivar MO map...

Description:

This course of study has been designed in conjunction with the newly developed Certified Master Beekeeping Program offered through the University of Missouri, Columbia Extension Network. Our focus for this class will be the “Basic Principles of Bees and Beekeeping” for those thinking about the challenging and rewarding world of bees. This information is for new beekeepers and those that are not yet experienced in the hobby of honeybees. The “Basis Beekeeping for Beginners” class will be taught by local beekeepers with multiple years of real hands on and practical experiences. A Mentoring program may be made available to those of you that have completed the first class and are willing to join a local bee club in your area.

May Cake Decorating project meeting

When:  Saturday, May 20, 2017, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Description:

Youth will learn Wilton Course 1 cake decorating skills in the morning and Wilton Course 2 cake decorating skills in the afternoon. These classes will be on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the 4-H Building in Ozark. 101 will be 9:00am-12:00pm and 102 will be 2:00pm-5:00pm. Please plan to arrive to class 10-15 minutes early. You can take both classes the same day if this is your first time. You can also take 101 as a refresher if you've already taken it before taking 102. Please take 101 before moving on to 102, as this will give a good decorating base to build upon. There will be a $2 registration fee for each class. You can pay this in advance to Jennifer Hancock at the Extension Office in Ozark or at the door when you arrive. A specific list of supplies is required to participate in the class. Contact Jennifer Hancock at hancockjp@missouri.edu or Emily Renner at mlernnr@yahoo.com for the list. Please make sure you read these carefully and bring everything on them.

Youth must be enrolled in Cake Decorating for the 2017 4-H year. A list of specific materials is required.
