Description:

It is an opportunity for personal growth and development of the young person who participates. As the youth participants learn to do and do to learn, we provide opportunities for young people to develop character, learn to share, cooperate and develop life skills. The fair consists of a variety of shows that will be evaluated by a judge, allowing the youth to receive knowledge on how to improve their livestock. Another part is self-evaluation judging that takes place with inside exhibits.

2017 Fall Blackberry Production Workshop

Blackberry production offers great potential for Missouri farmers. The Growing Blackberry Production and Sales in Missouri project includes blackberry production workshops in southwest Missouri and across the state, a demonstration blackberry planting at the MU Southwest Research Center in Mount Vernon that includes the rotating cross arm trellis and recently developed thornless blackberry cultivars, and blackberry promotional activities centered on the Webb City Farmers Market. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 (Session 13 of 16)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults; access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Session topic:

Warm-up, 8 strength training exercises, and a cool-down including stretches and deep breathing.

Estate Planning - Keytesville

Description:

Program helps Missourians understand the need for an estate plan and presents the fundamentals of creating one. Participants will learn about transferring titled and non-titled property, non-probate transfer tools, wills, powers of attorney, health care directives, and strategies for reducing family conflict. Non-titled items often have sentimental value or are important to family history. A workbook, titled “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?” is used for this part of the program. It is a guide for passing on personal possessions and offers practical information about inheritance like what is considered “fair” and how to manage conflict in sometimes-emotional situations. Time is provided for discussion and for participants to start their plan by writing thoughts, wishes and information as program moves through materials, handouts and the workbook.
