Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 Tipton (Session 5 of 16)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Session topic:

Participants will complete a short warm-up, followed by 8 strength training exercises and a cool down including stretches.

Session 1 Getting to Know Your Woodland: You will learn how to identify the major tree species growing in your woodland, understand why different species grow where they do, and what pests can threaten the health of your woodland. Session 2 Managing Your Woodland: You will learn how to turn your neglected woodlot into a healthy productive forest capable of providing more than once in a lifetime revenue and improved wildlife habitat! Session 3 Marketing Your Timber: We will walk you through eight steps to ensure you get the highest price for your timber and leave you with a healthy forest for future harvests and revenue! You will also learn what elements should be in a timber sale contract and how to minimize your timber sale tax.
