There is hope for old apple trees that have long been out of production. They can grow high-quality food for several years if structurally sound. Even unsound trees can be renovated, but they will not have a long life.

The primary tasks are to prune the tree back into manageability and then to incorporate a fertilization program. Procedures and timelines for pruning are in this brochure.
